soloist and fire performer

Sakinah fell in love with the American Tribal Style when she first viewed a video of Carolena Nerricio, director of Fat Chance Belly Dance and one of the innovators of the American Tribal Style. The grace, gentle strength, and powerful presence Ms. Nericcio possessed left her in awe. Then some time later, Sakinah was again amazed when she attended a Bellydance Superstars show where she witnessed the more contemporary Tribal Fusion style of bellydance when Rachel Brice performed her signature backbend and floor drop!

Like American Tribal Style, her dance consists of traditional moves and phrases from indigenous peoples all over the world while also peppered with contemporary combinations from cabaret, jazz and even hip-hop.  Her inspirations come from Middle Eastern, North and West African dance, Asian, Cuban and Spanish dance.
