Tamira
soloist and
Director of Belly Dance United

Tamira is the director of Belly Dance United, which was formed to create performance opportunities for belly dancers and related musicians.

Tamira believes that the more the public can see this art form, the better they will understand its beautiful fluidity and its ability to touch the mind in a way that facilitates peace and inspiration of the spirit.  She has always been interested in dance and movement. This love spans from when she was a child playing "dance contest" with her sister and neighborhood friends, to finding aerobics in her pre-teen years, to being a member of her high school dance team for two years, to teaching aerobics classes at the University of Missouri for four years while attending college, to today where her love of movement is focused on bellydance for over a decade. She has studied bellydance intensely with Maya of Gypsy Baladi, Terry Holland of Desert Fire and Asha Diana of Deva Dancers and now continues to attend workshops from world-known bellydancers. One of Tamira's most admired dancers is Suzanna DelVecchio who is known for her stong body alignment, for dancing "from the heart," and for successfully crossing the boundaries between bellydance and other dance forms.

If you are interested in becoming a BDU member, email Tamira at bdu@bellydanceunited.com about how to audition to be a part of the Belly Dance United shows.
