Farah

Farah

soloist, USMED instructor

Farah began bellydancing four years ago unexpectedly, when she joined a friend attending a local bellydance class in St. Louis. There she began her training with Arleah of Dessert Moon Dance as an avid observer of Arleah's classes. In 2008, Farah began college at Truman State University and began taking classes with Petite Nadirah who was a founding member of University Society of Middle Eastern Dancers, aka. USMED. Farah joined USMED and went on to become an instructor for USMED. Farah is also a member of Raqs Fusion Bellydance where she continues to train with Petite Nadirah who has introduced her to American Cabaret and Egyptian bellydance and the Suhalia bellydance training method. She has also studied with Kandice Grossman of Moonbelly Dance Troupe in Columbia, MO who also carries on the Suhaila training methodology.

Farah loves to mix other dance styles with bellydance. Her favorite and what she is known for, is her upbeat, pop-n-lock, hip-hop bellydance fusion. She also studies tribal fusion and enjoys experimenting with all types of dance.

Her style is cutting edge with a flair for precision. Her choreographies have the hints of modern day club dancing while still maintaining the integrity and clean technique of a dance that is over 5000 years old.

See Farah regularly at the Hookah Lounge in Columbia, MO where she is the house dancer.
