Angelica was not aware of the strong bellydance community surrounding her in Columbia, Missouri until around 2002. It was at a party when Ra’eesha of The Deva Dancers troupe showed Angelica a belly roll. “I wanted to be able to do a belly roll,” says Angelica, “but, I never thought I would perform in front of an audience."

Since that day, Angelica began studying bellydance under the guidance of Asha Diana of the Deva Dancers. Under this guidance and through various workshops, Angelica has studied American Tribal Style, Egyptian Folkloric and the American Cabaret styles of bellydance. Angelica's own style is based in American Cabaret; although, she continues to learn and develop her style as she continues to experiment with new techniques. One of her specialties is dancing with a veil as a prop!

Angelica says that she is most inspired by the dancers who continue to lead busy lives in professional settings and at home, yet still find time for bellydance – and who also dare to express their innermost sides through this artform.

Angelica says, “I never could draw, paint, or write very well, but I’ve always felt a need for a creative outlet. Bellydancing not only fills that need, but it brings me peace, happiness and a sense of beauty to my world.
