Amy Harrison
soloist, fire performer
and Co-founder of Utopia Studios of St. Louis

Amy Harrison not only loves Middle Eastern dance, but all forms of ethnic dance. Performing for more than a decade, her style is based on a fusion of bellydance styles evoking a very unique and avant garde approach.

During 1998 to 2003, Amy began as a member of Aalim Dance Company of St. Louis. From 2000 to 2001, she was the "house dancer" every weekend at Club Euro and Hollywood Restaurant in St. Louis.

Most recently, she has created "The Souk," a performance studio in St. Louis, and is joint creator of Arabesque; a bellydance performance art group comprised of live musicians and bellydance. Arabesque performances include a fusion of styles including sword, fire balancing and floorwork. Arabesque performances also include original, live music composed by Spence Harrison using predominately Arabic rhythms and instruments.

Not only is Amy Harrison a performer, she also has experience in stage and studio managing – from 1993 to 2003, she was theatrical manager for St. Louis band "Son of William." And currently, she is co-creator of Utopia Studios, a center for music and the dance arts serving over 500 groups in a 25,000 sq. ft. facility.

Amy often participates in events and group routines with other dancers working on new choreographies, improvization and freedom of expression. She is constantly learning new technique, and via Utopia Studios, witnessing the awesome dedication and beauty of other dancers at their craft. Ultimately, Amy dances to connect with the ancient patterns of movement that connect us with the universe.
