Ami Sprandel
soloist, fire performer, instructor of Exotic Rhythms Bellydance and member of Chuvani

Ami has been studying Middle Eastern dance since 1999; although she says she was "in love with it" long before that. She is an accomplished bellydancer whose Tribal technique and muscle control is stunning, not to mention mesmerizing.

She began bellydance with Aalim Dance Company and performed with Aalim until 2006. At that point she moved to Chuvani Bellydance where she is a principal performer and choreographer. She is also the instructor and owner of Exotic Rhythms Bellydance in St. Louis, MO.

Ami is an adaptive performer who is able to successfully cross the boundaries between tribal and cabaret styles of bellydance. She performs with zills, sword, veils, fans, and her one of her specialties is performing with fire.

She also designs many of her own costumes which are unique to the styles of Gypsy, Tribal, Tribaret (a mix of cabaret and Tribal), Gothic and also the Renaissance style of bellydance costuming.

There are three dancers who have strongly influenced Ami: Somra El Nubia of St. Louis for her unique energy and stage presence, Salwa of St. Louis for her invaluable mentorship and Rachel Brice for her Tribal Fusion Bellydance influence.

Ami has performed at festivals, cafes, Renaissance Faires, night clubs, universities, private parties and weddings.
